Michael “Finn” Finnegan - Ex-gun runner Michael Finnegan grew up on the coldest side of Northern Ireland, learning from a young age that surviving meant combining violence, luck and charm into a way of life. Unaware of the legend of the Witchblade, Finn was hired to follow Sara Pezzini by Jackie Estcado a.k.a The Darkness. Finn quickly found himself in a new world of magic and terror when The Curator gave him the Glacier Stone...and made him the person responsible for serving its legacy in our time. After a violent confrontation with Glorianna Silver, Finnegan now struggles with the power of the Glacier Stone, half curious about its potential -- half resentful that his life was turned upside down because of it.

Glorianna “Glori” Silver - At seven years old, Glorianna Silver was orphaned when marauders invaded her poor Norwegian farmhouse. Kenshin Kawakami - Kenshin is a former Japanese military man, but he never talks about it. Something bad happened when he was in the service. He bears the weight of this at all times. He’s burdened by his past because he’s lived, seen, and endured terrible things. He’s even a done some of them himself.

After leaving the military, Kenshin retired to a hillside dojo where he teaches philosophy and sword fighting in the same manner as his ancestor, Miyamoto Musashi. At some point in his past, Kenshin wielded the Blood Sword, one of the 13 Artifacts. It’s unclear how or why he gave it up, but the Curator trusts him enough to send Finnegan to study with Kenshin and learn about the Blood Sword and the rest of the Artifacts.

Elias Legion - Elias is the charismatic prophet of the Disciples of Adam. Born in the Middle East but educated (socially and intellectually) in Europe. He’s not a “warrior;” he’s a leader. A man of tradition. Purpose. He is constantly moving forward.

His followers refer to him as ‘Teacher Elias,’ and he is the only one known to have communicated with Disciple leader Adam. Elias believes in Adam’s wisdom and teachings above all else, and he would bring the world to its knees, even destroy it, if it accomplishes his goals. He’s a zealot, and that’s what makes him so dangerous.

Alina Enstrom - Elias’ personal bodyguard/assassin and second-in-command. Born in a small town but raised in a big city, she’s a woman in a man’s game (violence), so she has precious little time for bullshit. She is, in all things, efficient.

Alina is the daughter of Pavel Enstrom, a black market weapons manufacturer whose wife was murdered. He eventually found the Disciples and believed in Adam’s cause, indoctrinating Alina at a young age. She is the perfect weapon, unencumbered by a conscience because she believes that what she’s doing is for a higher purpose.

The Disciples of Adam - Unlike most dangerous cults, the Disciples aren’t just armed; they’re highly trained and well-funded. The followers Elias has assembled may as well be an elite special ops taskforce, not religious followers. They come from all nations and many walks of life, though most have military or private security backgrounds, and were found by Elias when they fell from the grace of their nations or their loved ones.

Their goal is to bring about the dawn of the New Eden, cleansing the world and starting again without the mistakes of the past. They believe themselves to be both pure and righteous, and the rest of the world to be sinners. Every disciple bears the Mark of Adam—a runic symbol tattooed or branded into his or her flesh, usually on the right palm. Some have added additional marks as a sign of loyalty.

Mack: They assign all of the directors numbers ... I started studying Big, but it wasn't until I actually got the script that I started to understand the real essence of the episode and got really excited about the opportunity to explore it on camera.

TVGuide.com: What kind of relationship are Chloe and Oliver going to have?
Mack: Oliver and Chloe are both coming from very similar mindsets and they're very professional. A relationship that develops out of those types of people is never one of softness or romance. It's a really interesting dynamic because both are aware that the most important thing is their mission in the world, not their relationships. They have a very strained and secretive relationship, which is similar to Clark and Lois, but they don't have the softness or the romance that Clark and Lois have. It's very fun, it's very mature and very secretive, strategic and interesting.

TVGuide.com: What are your thoughts on the Smallville fans that want to see Chloe and Clark together?
Mack: It's lovely that they're keeping the hope alive. [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: How does Chloe feel about seeing Lois and Clark together?
Mack: I don't think she's a very big fan, but I don't think it's coming from a place of jealousy. I think it's coming from a place of practicality. I think that Chloe recognizes, and you'll see this in "Persuasion," that when Clark is distracted, Clark does not do his best work. When Clark is in love is when Clark is distracted. Chloe is very reticent of being supportive of anything that will distract from naturalizing his heroic position in the world. His relationship with Lois is definitely proving to be a distraction just as she expected.

TVGuide.com: Will Clark and Chloe's friendship come together more?
Mack: They're working towards the same mission, they have the same ideals, but their journey, their path and their choices to actualize those missions are very different. While they are working together, because they always have and always will need each other, they also, both of them, have projects they're working on the side that don't involve the other, which puts a really interesting divide between the two characters and allows them some great dramatic tension.

TVGuide.com: How will the Justice League now develop or change in the coming episodes?
Mack: I think they become a much more deliberate group of superheroes. They have a system and we have a commitment now, all of them do. All of them are actually out and proactively seeking to fight crime and save the world in a way that was a little more haphazard before. With Chloe at the helm of all of them, I think they're a lot more effective and intentional in what it is they're trying to achieve.

TVGuide.com: What's your take on Dr. Fate's statement that he and Chloe share the same path? Could he mean that she's the next Dr. Fate?
Mack: We have played around with lots of different things. It could mean she's the next Dr. Fate. It could mean that she will soon be ridiculed and put in the hospital for being insane, like her mother, sort of a throwback to Chloe's fear of adopting her mother's mental illness.

TVGuide.com: What role will Chloe play in investigating Checkmate and Agent Waller (Pam Grier)?
Mack: Chloe plays a very proactive role in the relationship between Clark and Amanda Waller, mainly because she's a threat to her league. As part of her duties as Watch Tower, she is very protective of her league and what they represent and stand for. She's very aggressive about trying to figure out who Checkmate is, what it's about and how to stop her.

TVGuide.com: Will being big brother as Watch Tower come back to hurt her eventually?
Mack: She's definitely experiencing the challenges of being so aggressive with her pursuit to save, especially in her relationship with Clark. She's also starting to understand what it means to put yourself in the line of fire. So her safety is threatened several times and she's starting to recognize that she's in the big kids league now and there's not really any turning back ... At this point in Chloe's life, she doesn't have a whole lot to lose.

TVGuide.com: What is Chloe's driving force and her mindset as we continue through the season?
Mack: I think Chloe is really exploring that question, "Do the ends justify the means?" Because I think Chloe is at a place right now that she sees how bad the world is and sees the need for some really dramatic and drastic decisions. She's struggling to decide whether or not what she needs to sacrifice is worth what she needs to save.

For nine seasons, Allison Mack has been one of Smallville’s most talked-about cast members. Now, the adorable and engaging actress who plays Chloe Sullivan does some talking herself, about directing this week’s comic-book convention episode, being best friends with Clark Kent and where she sees ahead for Miss Sullivan’s love life.

You have been a very busy woman this season.
Yeah, it’s been probably the busiest time of my life actually. The last three months of the year were kind of insane.

I bet! Let’s talk about “Warrior.”
Sure!

So, it’s your second time directing the show, Justin [Hartley, Oliver] and your bosses Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson have nothing but high praise for you…are you starting to prefer directing over acting these days?
I wouldn’t say I prefer it, no, I think it’s a very different skill. And it’s terrifying. [Laughs] But I thoroughly enjoy it and there are elements of it that are incredible. It’s allowed me an understanding of filmmaking and the storytelling process that I would never have received by just purely acting, and it’s given me a perspective and a humility that has helped me explore myself in a way I don’t think I ever would have before. That’s why I love directing. I also love understanding the elements of what it takes to put things together, coming up with the entire style, theme and look of the whole show. It’s an amazing experience.

It sounds it.
That being said, with acting, it’s nice to just go in, do your job and relax. It’s all you, all the time when you’re directing. [Laughs]

And with “Warrior,” you had a lot to deal with. Big crowds, huge set pieces…
This was a challenge in a different way. It is a much bigger episode than the last one I directed [Season 8’s “Power”]. There was a lot more, as far as details and people were concerned. Plus I was involved a lot more in this episode. So it was pretty intense.

How was it, directing and carrying a lot of scene work?
That was probably the most challenging part of this experience. I am really, really lucky…I work with really amazing people. My director of photography Glen Winter, my second assistant director Morgan Beggs, and my mentor—they called him my assistant, he was more like my teacher—Christopher Petry, they were so helpful, so supportive, so beautifully there for me that any time I was in front of the camera, I knew I could come back and ask them what they thought and then move on. I couldn’t have done it if I hadn’t had the support of those three amazing men.

And you also got to direct almost the whole cast, right? I did. The only person I didn’t get to direct this time around was Cassidy [Freeman, Tess].

So I got a ton of questions from the Twitterverse. You know about your fans, right?
My fans are beautiful!

They LOVE you.
I know. They’re so great.

One question that keeps coming up is the direction Chloe’s headed in lately. Is she slipping into the dark side here?
I think Chloe is exploring alternate options for obtaining what she wants. I think she has beautiful, altruistic motivations, but I think she is looking at the idea of ‘do the ends justify the means?’ She’s pro-actively seeking ways to secure the salvation of humanity that might be different from Clark’s…and appearing less heroic than Clark’s.

And this has caused a strain on their friendship, which has people quite upset, as well. Do you think these two will ever regain that bond?
I think you’re seeing these two characters ebb and flow. They’re struggling to grow into a new type of relationship that they don’t understand yet. So it’s sort of one step forward, two steps back as they evolve…they grow apart and come together, then grow apart and come together again. But really, the whole dynamic for the two of them is ultimately that they love each other deeply. They’re family. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they agree with what the other person is doing, nor does it mean that they feel they can trust each other any more. But I don’t think that love or familial bond will ever go away.

That’s what I have been saying all along! That this mirrors a true friendship.
Yep! It really does. And it’s neat because you have seen the characters grow up together—Tom [Welling, Clark] and I have grown up together—we really get to experience the full dimension of a friendship, which is nice.

And speaking of relationships, watching you and Justin at the end of “Roulette,” I couldn’t help but think ‘what a gorgeous couple they’d make!’
[Laughs] Ha ha!

You guys had so much chemistry in that scene and the characters both come from that same place, the other side of heroism.
Yep. Oliver offers Chloe a lot.

Will he be offering her more?
[Laughs] Their relationship definitely changes. You definitely see their dynamic expanding. In what direction, you’ll have to watch and find out. But you’ll see in “Warrrior” that there is a huge shift between the two of them. They will definitely be spending more time together.

Do you have a favorite Smallville moment?
Yes! The other day, actually, it was Justin’s birthday and we had a cake for him. So I went down to the set, it’s pouring down rain and we have these things called “fly swatters” that shield us from rain when we’re filming outside, but they also basically collect a lot of rain on top. Every now and then you have to dump all of that excess rain and there’s this huge splash of water. We were filming outside, so we had these fly swatters set up and they were filled with water, and as we were singing “Happy Birthday,” one of the crewmembers decided to empty the fly swatter…not knowing I was standing right under it. Before anyone could say anything I was covered in about a gallon of freezing cold rainwater and I just looked at Justin and went (in a little singing voice) “happy birthday to you.” [Laughs] I had to completely redo my hair and makeup, I was wet to the bone, but everyone applauded and it ended being this great moment in Smallville history.

You guys really are a family up there in Vancouver, huh?
It is. It’s rare in this business to spend more than six months with a group of people. It’s a very gypsy-like atmosphere, very nomadic, people go from project to project to project. The fact that we have been together for almost a decade? That breeds a family atmosphere. We can’t help but be close!

Do you and Erica [Durance, Lois] hang out off-camera? Do “girls night” stuff?
We talk about it a lot. [Laughs] But we’ve never actually done it. Erica and I are both incredibly busy and because of our characters, we usually have contrasting schedules. We very rarely get to work together. So unfortunately, our schedules have never aligned where we can hang out together. But we like each other very, very much!

You two do have some cool stuff together in “Persuasion,” though, right?
Oh yeah.

We totally get to see angry Chloe again, like at the prom?
You get to see Nasty Chloe!

Is there an actual fight between you two?
There isn’t a physical fight between Chloe and Lois, but there is one between Chloe and Tess. And it is wicked. It’s a really hardcore fight! [Laughs]

Fantasy comics are a tough sell sometimes, especially when they’re steeped in light vs. dark, angels vs. demons and that kind of epic stuff. Done incorrectly these books can come off cheesy or boring. Top Cow’s new fantasy series Angelus scripted by Ron Marz and illustrated by Stjepan Sejic seems to be avoiding those pitfalls with not only an interesting storyline but also some killer art. Let me warn you, Angelus is a comic for those that love fantasy so if you’re an indie guy or a superhero nut it might not be your cup of tea. I dig all comics so if you’re like me Angelus could be something to add to the weekly list.

The story centers on Danielle Baptise a young woman from New Orleans who has been chosen by the Angelus, a primal light force, to be its human embodiment. Along with this new power comes all kinds of problems not the least of which is an army of Angels looking to Danielle to lead them in a battle to end their war against darkness. These new allies of Danielle in her Angelus forms aren’t the kindest bunch and while obedient to her thus far may kill her if Danielle doesn’t come up with a battle plan.

Issue #2 kicks off with a strike squad of angels in the realm of darkness robbing a demon train that’s front car is a large demon head with huge teeth. The train could have graced the cover of any early eighties metal album. Meanwhile Danielle has been brought to her Kingdom Of Light that essentially looks like an Old Testament description of Heaven. Tall gorgeous city in the clouds filled with heavenly deities and all apparently there to serve Danielle. The issue does a great job of balancing the mystery of the train robbery with Danielle’s sudden life changing circumstances, a nice mix of action and melodrama.

The only hokey part of Angelus is that Danielle is having a lesbian affair with a punky wise cracking upstart named Finch. My problem isn’t the lesbian aspect but the fact that the story doesn’t really need it. The whole affair aspect seems thrown in as a taboo that stands against the whole religious idea and I could live to be a thousand years old without ever seeing the “punky wise cracking upstart” character and it still wouldn’t be long enough. Angelus is a really interesting comic and does such a great job of taking cues from religious folklore without favoring any religions that I thought the Linch character and affair was a bit beneath it.

Art wise the book is pretty lush which fits in perfectly with the story. Stjepan Sejic has a great eye for combining these classic fantasy elements of angels and demons with a technological edge giving the whole comic a Blade Runner through the eyes of religion feel. I was also really impressed with how the colors were used here. A lot of fantasy has the colors too bright or to almost watercolor looking. Angelus has gorgeous color but it never overpowers the actual art.

With Angelus showing this much promise on only issue 2 I think we’ll be hearing from it for a while to come.

First Angelus #2 review!!

In my review of Angelus #1, I admitted I was blown away by artist Stjepan Sejic. In this issue, I am twice as blown away.

I get the feeling that writer Ron Marz and the Top Cow big wigs stepped back and said, “Let him run free!” And what we get is this art that is making painter Alex Ross sweat.

The pictures of the Angelus City are something George Lucas would cry at.

I am sure I am repeating myself, but it is just that good.

This time around, Marz really gets into the head and tells the story. Sabine, who is showing Dani, the bearer of the Angelus power, is just slightly so menacing, yet if you crossed her in a dark alley, you pray all she does is tear out your heart.

Instead, in this issue Marz tells a kick ass story that will come to a point later with an apparent confrontation between Dani, the Angelus bearer, and her buddy Jackie, the bearer of the Darkness armor.

As I have said, Top Cow has some amazing super heroes just steeped in their own mythology.

Just...wow...is all I can say.

Again, worth 10 times the cover price.

Again...wow.

In the Top Cow Universe, there are thirteen different Artifacts that hold significant power over the fate of mankind, and it is prophesized that bringing all thirteen together would instigate an event so catastrophic as to literally herald the end of the world. Unfortunately for the denizens of this universe, that's exactly what is happening in the pages of "Artifacts," the publisher's upcoming 13-issue maxi-series written by Ron Marz that's set to launch this summer. While the potential apocalypse is still quite a ways from being realized, Top Cow has no shortage of plans to prepare their readership for the events of "Artifacts." CBR News spoke with Marz and Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik about the company's plans for the build-up to "Artifacts" and beyond.

"The basic premise of the series is the basic premise of the Top Cow Universe," Marz told CBR of the plot for "Artifacts." "We've had this ongoing background story that there are thirteen Artifacts of power in the Top Cow Universe. The Witchblade is an Artifact and the Darkness is an Artifact, the Spear of Destiny that Magdalena has is an Artifact. It's been this background mythology, so 'Artifacts' is thirteen issues that bring all of it to the front. We'll reveal all of the Artifacts - two are still unrevealed - and one of the background elements is that if all thirteen Artifacts are brought together, it means the end of the world. So, what we're going to do is bring all of them together."

"It's a pretty organic outgrowth of the stories we've been telling for a number of years," added Sablik. "Internally, we've had the idea of the thirteen Artifacts established for a number of years, so it was always something in the back of our heads. After 'Broken Trinity,' [Top Cow's President] Matt Hawkins suggested we finally lay our cards on the table and give fans the fully monty, so to speak. Ron was the natural and only choice to write the series."

As an all-expansive crossover project, fans can expect appearances from most of the major Top Cow players, but there are two in particular taking center stage. "It's very much a story about the two main characters in the Top Cow Universe, Sara Pezzini and Jackie Estacado," said Marz. "I'm all for big, epic sweeping stories, and right now, comics is rife with these huge multi-part crossovers. But if there isn't an emotional content and some real character stuff at the center of that story, I think it all becomes like a Michael Bay movie, all blood and thunder that doesn't amount to anything. The emotional core of the story is Sara and Jackie, who are the parents of Sara's daughter Hope. Without giving too much away, a fair portion of the story is focused on who or what Hope really is and what she means to the Top Cow Universe."

The Darkness was the second Artifact revealed to the Top Cow UniverseSeeing as Jackie, Sara and their daughter have such prominent roles in "Artifacts," it's reasonable to expect some build-up to the maxi-series to occur in both "Witchblade" and "The Darkness," though that might not begin immediately. "For the next few months, 'Witchblade' and 'Darkness' will continue as they are," said Marz. "As 'Artifacts' gets ramped up, it'll be a fairly long series because we're going for thirteen issues, and as things play out in 'Artifacts,' they'll be reflected in the main books, but not in such a way that one doesn't make sense without the other."

But the story extends beyond just Sara, Jackie and Hope. According to Sablik, readers can walk the road to "Artifacts" by reading two of the company's latest miniseries. "Obviously there will be elements seeded in 'Witchblade' and 'The Darkness,' but we're also laying the groundwork in 'Angelus' and 'Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box,'" he said. "'Angelus' will do a lot to make [Danielle Baptiste] feel more like a fully fleshed out, three dimensional character, rather than just a foil for the Darkness or the Witchblade bearers. We'll also be lifting the veil back on what the Angelus means in the Top Cow Universe and why it does the things it does. And lastly, we'll be giving readers a peak at another lesser-known Artifact and a new Artifact bearer.

"In 'Pandora's Box,' we'll be getting more into what makes Finn and Glori [the respective Glacier Stone and Ember Stone bearers] tick both as people and as Artifact bearers," Sablik continued. "At the end of 'Broken Trinity,' both characters were basically tasked with tracking down and gathering the other Artifacts, so you'll see them coming to terms with that charge. Again, we'll be unveiling a new Artifact and establishing its place in the universe. I'm very excited about both series and the opportunity to build this wider, more cohesive world."

While "Angelus" and "Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box" both lay groundwork towards "Artifacts," Marz insisted that they stand alone from the upcoming maxi-series. "I don't want to give the impression that this is going to turn into a 40-issue mega event like some of what Marvel and DC are doing, because that's not how we're approaching it," he said. "The 'Angelus' series is very much a standalone series. Its main purpose is to establish Dani as the Angelus, but there will be threads through the series that will come to fruition or appear again in 'Artifacts.' It's the same situation with 'Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box,' which is designed to flesh out Finn and Glori, so first and foremost, that's what it'll do. But there will be an element or two that crop up again in 'Artifacts.' Those series stand on their own and will have a beginning, middle and end, but for somebody who is reading everything, it will form a bigger tapestry if you pay attention to the details. They'll funnel some plot threads into 'Artifacts,' but they certainly stand on their own."

The third Artifact, the Angelus, just launched it's own Top Cow title while "BR: Pandora's Box" introduces two more"Let me be perfectly clear, these series were in the plans before we even decided to do 'Artifacts,'" Sablik agreed. "They stand on their own and should be great reading experiences on their own, even for fans that don't end up reading 'Artifacts.' But as we started putting these projects together, we saw natural places where they could interconnect and build towards 'Artifacts,' so we seized the opportunity. Readers who pick up both of these series and then read 'Artifacts' will have a richer and deeper reading experience because of it. And conversely, readers interested in picking up 'Artifacts' should not feel like reading either 'Angelus' or 'Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box' are necessary to enjoy 'Artifacts,' but it will be better. It's kind of like a good cocktail before a fantastic meal. Sure, it isn't necessary, but isn't your meal better with one?"

Sticking with the meal metaphor, die-hard Top Cow fans might want to pick up "Angelus," "Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box" and other "Artifacts" tie-ins so they can savor their memories of the publisher's universe as it stands - because according to Marz, the Top Cow Universe's landscape is going to change forever after the events of "Artifacts."

"I know that bit of ad copy appears on everybody's crossovers, but in this case, it's very true," teased the writer. "The plan is fairly dramatic. If we're going to tell a big world-changing story, it's going to be a world-changing story. We're going to do this and do this once - it won't be an ongoing series of earth-shattering events that each has 37 parts. I know that's a viable publishing plan for Marvel or DC with an ongoing series of shocking events, but in terms of what you're giving to the audience, it ultimately becomes the boy who cried wolf. You can only say, 'Holy shit, this is the most exciting and astounding earth-shaking event we've ever done...except for the one a few months from now' [so many times], so our thinking going into this was to not hold anything back. If we're going to do something that makes people's jaws drop, let's do it. Let's not parcel it out."

"This isn't a story we are doing because we were looking for the next big event or to correct some continuity problems, but because organically, this is where the story had to go naturally," added Sablik. "This is the next logical step in the evolution of the Top Cow Universe. This isn't a story that could be told in 'Witchblade' or 'The Darkness.' It's not a Sara or a Jackie story, or even a Dani or Finn or Glori story. This is a Top Cow Universe story, and it's the biggest one yet."

"Artifacts" kicks off during the summer of 2010. The road to "Artifacts" can currently be traveled in the pages of "Witchblade," "The Darkness," "Angelus" and "Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box."

BROKEN FRONTIER: The First Born hardcover was originally (June 2009) thought up as a collection of the three FB-issues and the three Witchblade tie-ins for 100 USD and some thought that was pretty much for only 6 issues and less then 200 pages. There was some confusion in regards to the content. Later on it changed to include Broken Trinity and its spin-off one-shots and is now totaling 400 pages. Can you tell us something about that decision?

Ron Marz: Hey, man, I just write the stuff! Don't ask me the production details!

Phil Smith II: Filip Sablik came up with the idea to combine both stories together in one volume. Collecting the two biggest story lines of the Top Cow Universe (to date) in a single volume made for a good idea and justified its price point. It just made sense to reward the fans with more value and content.

BF: To compile a hardcover like this must be a lot more then just reprinting the original floppies. Can you tell the fans about the process behind the scenes?

RM: Again, Phil did all the heavy lifting on the book, so he can give you the gory details on putting it all together. From my perspective, I love big hardcover productions. I'm a hardcover whore, and the shelves in my office are stacked with DC Absolutes and Marvel Omnibus editions. So having a First Born/Broken Trinity hardcover is very, very cool to me. I love all the additional material in an Absolute or an Omnibus -- the sketches and design material, the scripts and notes. It's all a peak into the creative process, into all the work that goes into a series but is never seen by the readers. There's a wealth of that material in our volume; lots of designs and roughs by Stjepan Sejic, a couple of my scripts accompanied by the Stjepan and Phil Hester layouts.

PS: We wanted something real special. The trickiest feature was the “virgin” slipcase. The idea was for the package itself to be like an object of art rather than clobber supporters of Top Cow with ad copy. We managed to fit all the descriptive text, bar codes and logos on the top and bottom of the case. The wraparound art by Stjepan is versatile, and is featured on the case, the dust jacket and the poster insert.

BF: The picture shown on http://twitter.com/TopCow of the end result also showed posters and more. Can you tell me some more about the correct contents and the extras?

RM: Phil really went above and beyond to include as much as possible. When we were proofing the book, we went through a number of proofing rounds to make sure everything was perfect. I was really enthusiastic about how the supplemental material came together. And then I reminded myself that I'd seen all that material as we were working on the respective series. But almost all of it had never been seen by the readers –the character designs, the roughs, my scripts and the resulting layouts. The script-to-layout section really gives a glimpse into the process: the details of the scripts, how the artist interprets the script into a layout, how the layout is revised for the finished art.

PS: We had to do some digging for the bonus materials. Ron re-pieced the scripts together that he had revised and tweaked in the editorial process. Phil Hester dug up his thumbnails from a drive he had put to sleep in his garage that we hoped still worked. Stjepan combed through his notes to get his concept art, etc.

BF: What made you decide to add so much more content?

RM: One of the cool things is that Stjepan produces a wealth of design material, so we had a lot of it available to us. The First Born TPB has a nice section of extras, but this goes WAY beyond that.

PS: One of our goals with the trades is to give the fans the best story experience possible. Ron’s trades always read well, with the extra behind-the-scenes material as icing on the cake. I know I feel let down when I purchase a trade that does not include at least a few concept sketches or behind-the-scenes content. Top Cow’s approach is to always try to produce books that we, ourselves, would pay for. For the First Born • Broken Trinity Deluxe Hardcover, we went a little over the top by adding two scripts, concept designs on both series, all the covers plus variant covers and a real poster.

BF: What were the challenges of creating such a feisty volume?

RM: That's really a question for Phil, but I do want to say that he did a great job pulling everything together. There were a lot of disparate elements that were included, and he made everything fit together seamlessly. It's a well-designed, elegant package.

PS: The trickiest part was the wraparound cover—I had to guess at the dimension size for Stjepan before we were able to confirm the dimensions from the printer so he could start on the design for the cover. Luckily, I guessed correctly. Marrying two separate story lines published a year apart into one experience, while ensuring the two titles are distinctive, yet connected, is a major challenge. The section designs share some DNA, but each retained its own feel. The proportions of our standard books are also a little different, with the deluxe hardcover expanding to 8.5 inches by 12 inches. Luckily, we were able to cheat a bit without skewing any art. It all came together with everything came out looking just right.

BF: Will it also come out as a TPB?

RM: First Born is already available as a TPB, though it doesn't include the First Born: Aftermath material, which is a Darkness story by Phil Hester and Lee Moder, and a Magdalena story by Ryan Sook and I. I should add that the Magdalena story is one of my favorite stories ever, but then again, I'm probably biased. The Broken Trinity TPB just went off to press, so that should be out in a couple of months, by the time it's printed in Asia and shipped back. I don't think there are any plans to reproduce this complete volume as a trade. We set out to make this slipcase volume something unique, so I think we'd want to keep it that way.

PS: First Born • Broken Trinity will not come out as a trade; however, the Broken Trinity mini-series will come out as an awesome trade paperback. Priced really reasonably at $14.99, the Broken Trinity trade paperback will collect 8 issues of material, covers and sketches.

BF: How do you both feel now the package is complete? I mean, on the one side it must be thrilling to see something you wrote come into fruition like this must be exhilarating whereas I can also imagine that the designing of this total package and seeing the end result must also be something immensely satisfactory?

RM: I'm absolutely thrilled with it. And that's coming from someone who hardly ever looks at his own printed comics. By the time an issue is in print, I've seen the material so many times; I don't get real excited about it. But this is something I'm excited about.

PS: It came out really well, but I am biased. Everyone should see it for themselves. We do listen to feedback from our fans, and with each production, we get a little better. This is the second deluxe edition we have done after the Midnight Nation Deluxe, but the first for Top Cow “Universe” material. We pushed the design even further with the virgin slipcase. I am looking forward to what we can do on the next one…

In the Top Cow Universe, there are thirteen dangerous Artifacts that offer their wielders incredible power. Three of these Artifacts are already widely known to comic book fans: Jackie Estacado currently holds the Darkness, while the Angelus belongs to Danielle Baptiste. The balance between the two - the Witchblade - is once again in the hands of longtime wielder Sara Pezzini after a lengthy battle to reclaim the title.

But what of the other Artifacts?

The topic is guaranteed to be explored further in Ron Marz's 13-issue maxi-series "Artifacts," which kicks off in July, but two of the lesser known Artifacts are getting their time in the spotlight a bit earlier thanks to "Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box," February's new Top Cow miniseries written by Rob Levin and Bryan Edward Hill with art from Alessandro Vitti. CBR News spoke with Levin and Hill to learn more.

"Pandora's Box" will tell the tale of two characters introduced in Marz's previous "Broken Trinity" event, Michael Finnigan and Glorianna Silver, better known as the wielders of the Ember Stone and the Glacier Stone, two of the fabled thirteen artifacts that are, like the Darkness and the Angelus, diametrically opposed. "As far back as anyone can remember, the wielders of these Stones have been going at it; mortal enemies who want nothing more than to destroy the other," Levin told CBR. "The Glacier Stone is a force of destruction, and the Ember Stone, one of creation."

"The obvious point is that one is born of fire and one is born of ice," added Hill. "Historically, there have been bearers of these stones and they've fought each other for dominance. They manage to destroy each other, the stones find other bearers and the battle continues. What's really interesting here is that we're living in a very secular and grounded time. This is the age of technology, not magic. Superstitions are killed every day by Google and Wikipedia. For Finn and Glori, they both have to look at not only the history of the stones, but the age they're living in and how that affects the conflict."

Just as the two stones are in direct opposition, so too are their respective wielders, who couldn't possibly be any more different. "Finn's a Northern Irish gunner, exiled to America, whose life was always very grounded in that world. When the Curator bestowed the Glacier Stone upon him in the original ['Broken Trinity'] miniseries, it really changed everything he knew and opened his eyes to a totally different world. He's out of his element," described Levin. "Glori is a woman bred to wield the Ember Stone, so she's following the path she's been trained for. She's closing in on her purpose, as she believes it to be. Unlike Finn, she's known about the stones and the other Artifacts, and she's much more worldly. She has money, power and influence. He's small potatoes, she's big fish, to toss some strange metaphors out there."

"BR: Pandora's Box" will explore the world of the Ember and Glacier StonesAs is often said, however, opposites attract, which is the case with Finn and Glori...at least to a degree. "In terms of commonalities, even though Finnegan and Glorianna are destined to be enemies, they also understand each other in a way no one else can," said Hill. "Their relationship isn't just that they fight each other because they're supposed to - fans are too smart for that. Readers can expect Glorianna and Finnegan's relationship across the course of this series to continually get redefined by the events they suffer, the things they learn about themselves and the nature of the prophecy that drives them both."

One thing that the writers are actively planning to avoid is a relationship between Finn and Glori that is even remotely similar to the one shared by Sara Pezzini and Jackie Estacado, who themselves oscillate between friend and foe with some frequency. "We didn't want to give readers a lesser version of Sara and Jackie, so we did a lot fleshing out of Glori and Finn in our notes to make them interesting and original on their own," said Hill. "If you're Glori, you've been filled with stories about the bearers of the Ember and Glacier stones waging epic battles and destroying each other, neither one claiming the world. She's not eager to be another tale in the legend of the stone. She wants to win. She wants Finn's stone. She wants to unify the power and have the legend end with her victory. What Finn will learn from Glori is that there are many ways to defeat someone, and fighting is only one of them. Finn isn't a student of this history. He's not even sure he wants the power and the responsibility that comes with it. How would you feel if suddenly you're given something, and now you're told that you have to wage a war against a woman you've barely met? Finn's struggling to decide how to think about all of it, even though every day he's forced to make a life-changing decision based on this new power."

For the writers of "Pandora's Box," working on Finn and Glori provides a unique opportunity to delve deeply into two characters that, despite their previous appearances, are still largely unknown to the Top Cow readership. "Coming onto characters with only a handful of appearances lets us do more with them," said Levin. "They're like unfired clay. We can still shape them a bit before we put them in the oven, and this series is going to be that oven. Ron did his thing tapping into what could be quickly communicated about each character in limited space, but this series gives us a chance to really put our stamp on them and make them real people as opposed to just interesting guest stars."

While Finn and Glori are at the center of "Pandora's Box," they're certainly not alone. Glori is aided by Wulgar, a guide of sorts, previously introduced by Hill in the "Broken Trinity: Aftermath" one-shot, while Finn will interact with a character called Kenshin Kawakami, a former Japanese military man with some ties to the Artifacts and the mysterious Curator. "He's like this burrito filled with all things awesome and cool - part samurai, part student of the mystic, part philosopher," described Hill. "We meet him while he's in seclusion in Japan, and the interplay between Kenshin and Finn gets more and more rewarding across the series. Swords, guns, magic - the only thing missing is Kate Moss."

"We did a lot of very disturbing research to make our villains not only a danger to Glori and Finn, but to the narrative world overall. One of the themes that readers will see us engage is the danger of belief - when it's placed in the wrong cause or the wrong leader. Looking into the eyes of zealotry is a terrifying experience, and through our villains, we're going to subject Glori and Finn to the rancid heart of that fear."

As dangerous and powerful as the cast of "Pandora's Box" might be, there's no telling just how dangerous the other Artifacts are, as well. While Hill and Levin were cautious not to comment on the exploration of the rest of the Artifacts in the pages of "Pandora's Box," they hinted that there could well be a balance between the Ember and Glacier Stones, much like the Witchblade is between the Darkness and the Angelus. Whether or not further Artifacts are uncovered in this miniseries, however, the topic will be explored further in Ron Marz's upcoming series. While "Pandora's Box" will certainly have ties to "Artifacts," the writers promised that the enjoyment of their miniseries won't hinge upon the continuation of the next Top Cow event - though, if they are successful, Hill and Levin's work should leave readers craving more.

"It's bad form to tell a story that doesn't finish properly on its own," said Levin. "I'm not talking about ambiguous endings or leaving a door open for more, but specifically when your enjoyment of a story is put on hold or dependent upon another. This is going to be a complete story whether you've read every Top Cow book ever or if this is your first taste. You'd be foolish not to pick up 'Artifacts' if you like how we're putting it down here, but this could easily be its own thing. It's tight and contained, but it's absolutely tied into everything that Ron and the gang at Top Cow are planning."

My Angelus #1 Review

Okay, the day is finally upon us, here is my review for Angelus #1. But first, let's go back in time. *enters timemachine to a few months back* LOL.

Witchblade #129.

I remember waiting for that issue. I was so happy when it came out, but I was thunderstruck by lightning after reading it. I hated the outcome. I really thought it was the end for her. I had never been angry at a comics writer before, but I really was after reading that issue, so angry it drove me to write a dark fanfiction with a character death. I'm not saying "Sara Pezzini sucks" and "Danielle Anastacia Baptiste kicks ass", but I had always loved Dani since her introduction. The only time I had ever been angry at a comic writer had been for the death of Kara in Final Crisis. I remember having broken down and cried one night while thinking about that Witchblade issue. Plus I had drank a bit and was really emotional to my mom about it. Sorry, it just was the effect that direction had on me.

So imagine my surprise at Witchblade #130. From the hateful emotion I had for Ron it jumped back to adoration. And it only grew when I read the announcement of an 6-issue Angelus mini-series with Danielle Anastacia Baptiste as the main character!

So, *returns to 2010, emerges from the timemachine* here we are, Angelus #1.

I totally loved the issue. It had awesome art and a very interesting plot. I wonder what the artifact is that Sabine has sent her followers to obtain from Hell. And now that we have seen the outside of 'Angelus Central', how will the inside look?

Can't wait for Angelus #2! The cover looks incredible!

Angelus is the story of many things, but mainly about how things work in this universe. How things work in circles. See, the Angelus was once a self-righteous villain, though now former Witchblade-bearer Dani Baptiste is now the wielder of the Angelus force. Also, how Dani came from New Orleans, moved to New York, and now has settled back to Louisiana in an attempt to clear her head. Along for the ride is her would-be girlfriend, Finch, who was introduced a while back in "Witchblade". Too bad for Dani, things are about to get crazier.

Now, I wouldn't call this an origin story by any means, if anything it's a set up for the remaining five issues of this mini series. There's little to be unsaid about what Marz and Sejic have done for Top Cow's top character, and this title is in the same field of character development, intrigue, with magical elements that wouldn't let me stop turning pages. Marz is no stranger to the story of everyman, or woman, becoming a larger than life hero(ine) and Dani has stepped out of Sara's shadow and really shines here.

Of course, Sejic is at his best here with heavenly imagery and hellish designs and solid panel construction, but once again, doesn't seem to capture the images of the "real world" and the more subtle moments. I do love the "aren't they, are they" factor of Finch and Dani's friendship, and you want to cheer for the both of them on. Readers of both Witchblade and Darkness will surely want to pick this issue up, though there isn't really anything earth-shattering for them, but really completes that trinity that Top Cow has established. With "Artifacts" coming out soon, this is a book to have an eye on.

In fact, the Darkness and the Angelus are the primal forces of light and darkness, and through a truce created the Witchblade together as a balance. Angelus first appeared in the pages of the Darkness in 1997, and received a one-shot in Top Cow’s acclaimed Pilot Season title in 2007. Now Angelus has a new mini-series; let's see if it's worth a look.

Following the events of Top Cow's “First Born” limited series and “War of the Witchblades” storyline, the Angelus force is now within Danielle Baptiste. But unlike previous hosts, she still maintains her free will. And, apparently there are those who have a problem with this in the first couple of pages. After a quick side trip to hell, we join Dani and her companion Finch as they're settling into their new home in New Orleans. Supernatural hi-jinks are not far behind, as Dani struggles to figure out just what is it she's supposed to do now.

As the first issue in a mini-series, this can either make or break what the title's trying to accomplish. Having not read anything with Angelus before, I felt a little lost trying to follow what was going on. I had to search online for answers, some of which I used in the opening paragraph. I'm sure Angelus/Witchblade/Darkness/Top Cow fans knew what was going on, but a brand-new reader like me shouldn't have to find answers outside of the pages of the first issue. I'm sure more answers will follow in the second issue, but I just can't help but feel bothered by this.

Ron Marz and Stjepan Sejic are the creative team behind this, which is not surprising since Marz finds his way to most Top Cow titles. Marz's writing style is true to form, grounding his characters in a felt-reality (as real as you can get with angels and demons), giving real issues to his characters without it feeling like drama-for-the-sake-of-drama. Sejic's artwork hurt my eyes at first, but that always happens with art styles like this. After the first few pages I was used to it and didn't even notice it, and it does help convey the epic-scale story they're trying to tell involving the war between heaven and hell.

Since the Angelus is forever linked to the Darkness and the Witchblade, fans of those works should definitely be checking this out. From what I've pieced together, it seems that the Angelus has been an important part to both titles' recent storylines so it's only fitting that the character gets its own mini. However if you've never read the Darkness or Witchblade before, you probably shouldn't read this unless you plan on following those other titles as well. Overall, not a bad start, but not great either.

The official episode description for ‘Smallville’s’ “Disciple” is out, and it says that Dark Archer seeks revenge on Green Arrow by kidnapping Speedy. Is there a little something going on between Ollie and Mia at this point? – Debbie

I kinda doubt it. When I suggested such a mentor-padawan romance to Justin Hartley, he countered, “I hope it’s more of a ‘big brother’ dynamic, because, well, she’s a little young” – at least going by DC Comics lore. Besides, he added, “I think it’s more interesting if it’s not a romantic thing, since we’ve seen that with Oliver before.”

Angelus Goes Solo

Ron Marz chats with Broken Frontier about the new Witchblade spin-off focusing on Dani Baptiste and her new role in her series, Angelus.

Marz knows a thing or two about creating sympathetic characters discovering the wonder and danger of the world around them, and their place in it. His work on DC's Green Lantern in the 1990s brought a new energy (and ring bearer in Kyle Rayner) to the series, while recently he's turned his eye towards building a shared universe with Top Cow, with whom he has signed an exclusive contract.

After the War of the Witchblades storyline which saw original 'Blade bearer, cop Sara Pezzini battle it out with young dancer Dani Baptiste. The climax saw Dani give her half of the Witchblade gauntlet back to Sara. However Dani is not free of mystical powers of her own, thanks to now becoming the new host for the Angelus entity. Marz and his fellow Witchblade collaboartor, artist Stjepan Sejic details Dani's story in the new six issue mini-series, Angelus.

BROKEN FRONTIER: Any chance of more Dragon Prince stories, or new creator owned work?

RON MARZ: We're looking at getting the Dragon Prince collected edition into stories in 2010, so assuming that goes as planned, we'll have a new stories in the collection. Beyond that, Pantheon City, by me and Clement Sauve, should finally come out from Dark Horse next year. Lee Moder and I also have a new project called Shinku that we're working on. It's a modern vampire story -- no sparkling, no longing gazes -- that we plan on debuting next year as well. And the third volume of Samurai: Heaven and Earth is always on the back burner, waiting for Luke Ross to have time to draw it.

BF: When you came on board with Top Cow you were building a universe on an existing foundation, so did that make things easier than starting from scratch?

RM: Not really easier, just different. Starting from scratch is fun because you can just create from whole cloth, and you're not tied to anything that's come before. You're starting with a complete blank slate. That said, tinkering with the Top Cow universe is great, because while there were certain elements in place, a lot was left open. So I came in and tried to find the natural connections between the concepts and characters. The Top Cow universe is small enough -- compared to the Marvel U or DCU -- that it's much easier to get a handle on it. The whole trick is building a mythology the supports the kind of stories we want to tell, but doesn't become so complex that it becomes a barrier to new readers.

BF: Is it difficult juggling the drama of Witchblade along with the action and supernatural elements, and does each issue need all three?

RM: Maybe not each and every issue, but in general, you want to have a balance. One of the things that really attracts me to Witchblade is the opportunity to tell different kinds of stories -- supernatural, crime, relationship drama. It's not just the same thing over and over.

BF: Are you happy with the way you've brought The Darkness and Angelus into focus? It's no longer just the Witchblade that's getting all the attention.

RM: The success of the Darkness is all about what Phil Hester and his artists have done. The Angelus concept is something I've wanted to expand upon for a while, which is why we put a long-term plan into place to make it more viable. The Darkness and Witchblade are kind of the twin pillars that support the modern Top Cow universe. It would be great to see the Angelus eventually join them.

BF: What will the Angelus mini-series allow you to do that you couldn't do in Witchblade?

RM: As long as Dani was in Witchblade, she was sharing the spotlight with Sara. Giving Dani her own series allows me to completely concentrate on her and the Angelus concept, and build both of them into viable entities. One of the reasons I moved Dani back to New Orleans is that I wanted to give Dani a new life, so readers could plug into her story on the ground floor. As she grows into the role of the Angelus, the readers can grow with her.

BF: Stjepan Sejic's along for the ride. How much do you two converse when creating a design for a new character or artifact?

RM: Pretty regularly, sometimes daily. Instant Messaging is a wonderful thing, especially when one of us is in New York and the other is in Croatia. Stjepan is so fast that we can kick around ideas or character designs, and a few hours later he sends me a bunch of sketches. He's a great collaborator because his mind is always turning over story ideas and concepts.

BF: Are you glad that War of the Witchblades has finally finished and you don't have to keep secrets anymore?

RM: Just Christmas secrets. I can handle that.

BF: With your Green Lantern work and your current Top Cow projects there seems to be a theme of ordinary people wielding great objects of power and coming to terms with that. Is that a theme that intrigues you?

RM: Absolutely. As both a reader and a writer, I'm much more drawn to stories of ordinary people in extradordinary circumstances. It's the difference between Cary Grant in North by Northwest -- just a regular guy who gets in over his head -- and somebody like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, who's an expert in damn near everything. For my tastes, I'm more entertained by a character who is human and fallible and rises to a challenge, rather than a character who is completely equipped to deal with that challenge.

Angelus #1 is out now from Top Cow and #2 is released on January 13.

The issue opens up with Sabine briefing some subordinates about Dani as the new Angelus. Since Dani retains her free will, Sabine views her as a threat and they plot to take her down. Sabine orders three of the Angelus Warriors t0 retrieve an object for her that is presently in Hell. At the gates of Hell, the Angelus Warriors manage to kill the three headed beast/guard, and the three proceed to retrieve the item.

Meanwhile, Dani and Finch are moving into a new apartment in the attic of a house in New Orleans. The land lady pretty much interrogates them as they unpack their boxes and conveniently give the new readers a quick Dani/Finch brush up.

Dani feels like her whole life is now upside down as the host for the Angelus but also unsure of her relationship with Finch. To cheer her up, Finch pretty much drags Dani out of her slump and has her show around New Orleans. Later that evening, the two are about to kiss, but then a giant four headed cat/ice monster shows up. Dani goes into Angelus Mode and battles with the beast. She manages to chop off one of its four heads, but then it blasts her with an energy beam and gets the upper hand. To which Dani says: "I think maybe I liked this better than when I had the Witchblade." She manages to knock the beast off and proceeds to wrestle with it. But then the beast is killed from behind by Sabine and a group of Angelus Warriors. Dani pretty much throws a bunch of questions to them about who they are, what they are, and where they go when they are not around her. Sabine agrees to show her, and they all disappear in flash of light, (except Finch, who is left all alone). The last page is of Dani and the Angelus Warriors entering what appears to be Heaven, or Heaven looking space ship thing.

Today's the day we all get "Illuminated" by Angelus #1. (it's also the first story title: Illumination, seen in the previews.)

I don't know if I can get it anywhere in the Netherlands, but this comic shop in Belgium has preorders and they don't mind shipping to the Netherlands. I preordered mine a long time ago (hehe) and hope that it will be arriving at my apartment soon.

What would life be like for Clark Kent (Tom Welling) on Smallville if everyone knew that he is actually a Superman? What if there were a journal that held every detail about Kal-El, Krypton and Clark Kent? Well, in an upcoming episode Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) discovers there is such a journal, and it's not at all clear that she can be trusted with that info...We just chatted up Cassidy about Tess' arc this season, and not only does she hold the key to Clark's secret but she's in grave danger herself and may not even be back next season...

Tess and Clark are going for a little flight, and the episode is called "Turbulence"—plane crash anyone?

Ding, ding, ding! It's me and Clark. I approach him in a very different way than Lex did; I see Clark as an opportunity for security in a way that I've never felt before. I, like everybody else, need a hero, and I'm looking to Clark for that.

Does Tess know about Clark's powers?

She knows what she's read, she's knows what she's seen, she knows what she's heard, but she wants him to trust her.

Wait, read?

Tess uncovers Lionel Luthor's diary, and she learns everything.

Clark shouldn't trust her then, right?

That's a good question. We've seen that Tess can kill people, but she's not predictable. You can't really count on her to be one way or the other, but she does things she feels she needs to, even if that means doing a really, really evil thing.

Fans want to see more of Tess this season—what can they look forward to?

There's another episode coming up which is called "Eternal," directed by James Marshall. It's super Tess-heavy, probably the most I've ever been in an episode. I say more words than I've said the entire season, and Tess and Davis finally meet.

Davis Bloome or Doomsday?

Both.

Is she in danger?

Yeah, she gets bitch-slapped. She definitely presses buttons. She's out there; she's like f--k all, I want to know the truth.

It's nice to see a little love connection with Oliver and Tess as well.

We do have an interesting relationship. We haven't touched on the romance of that; I think their romantic relationship lives in a certain time, and it may live again, but right now she's trying to live her life without a man or a father figure or anyone telling her what she should or shouldn't do.

Is Lex really dead? Could he show up in the finale?

No one is ever really dead on Smallville, just like no one is ever really human.

They've taken to humanizing you, though.

I am one of the only humans on the show, really, or the only person who hasn't been affected by Kryptonite or Brainiac. I love that about Tess; when she's doing bad things, you're rooting for her, and then when something horrible happens to her, you kind of feel bad for her in a way.

The finale is still untitled, but do the writers have a plan now that they've been picked up for a ninth season?

They were doing "choose your own adventure." They were doing either a series finale or season finale. So now that we know that we're going another season, they've had to pull things over to a season finale.

The show is picked up for the ninth season, but are you?

I officially have not had the invite back, but I hope that I'm back. I think that it would be awesome to have Tess back. That scene when she's talking in the mirror to Lex and she shuts him off, that was really her turning point for me, because before she was this character that was always looking for Lex. She was really in the show to take on that role because Michael Rosenbaum left, and that's the moment she starts to build her own character.

Promise you will not die this season.

I hope not. If they don't bring me in [for the next season], I will promise you that I will storm into the production office, and there will be a beatdown until they put me in the show.

Smallville Season Ten News: Its Possible!

Old article, but this is just really great news for me, and it sounds very real and I am believing this is true, and if they have Tom signed on already, thats 70% of Season Ten happening right there, as the other 30% would be from the viewership and many of the fans would stay true, and pump the ratings and so, I'll be anticipating Season Ten's confirmation date, and if I'm that excited, you'll know that I'll be posting more news about Season Ten, as the news begins to pour in, and all I can say is; Season Ten will happen!

On the back of yesterday's announcement that The CW has renewed "Smallville" for a 9th season, the Superman Homepage did some digging to find out just who will be returning in Season 9.
A source well positioned to know about these things told the Superman Homepage that at this point in a TV series Warner Bros. requires main cast members to sign a 2 year contract. Therefore Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan), Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy Olsen) and Erica Durance (Lois Lane) were all signed on for a possible 9th season when they negotiated their contracts at the beginning of Season 8.
So, with Tom Welling's original contract having been for 8 seasons, his new contract (signed for season 9) would most likely also be a 2 year deal, meaning there could potentially be a season 10!

More Than Friendship has been updated today with chapter 12. The fic is about the beautiful relationship between Kara Kent and Lois Lane.

Heroes Season Four Happening

This is not an official confirmation, but it does seem like a good semi-confirmation, so I am taking this as, a true confirmation, although, you others should not, but I hope many fans are happy, cause I sure am, although, I'm not sure, I want a fifth season...

Short Saints Row 2 Review

Well If you've played this game before, you know it was(and still is) Awesome. But I get it if you are not into these types of games, so if you are not then maybe you should leave around now :) .

NOTE: I am not the best with reviews so don't expect this to be a really awesome review.

It is fun cruising around in your car, truck or motorbike (Tip: Motorbikes help more when your in a Sh*tload of traffic or want to get around the cars easily). Even the missions can be enjoyable, because if you don't play them you probably are not going to get far in it. I have not completed the game yet. But so far the parts I have played have been really fun, but can sometimes be hard. Also you can get jobs driving a cab, taking people to the hospital in an ambulance, and you can even steal a car from the cops, but it isn't going to be the easiest task to get away with it. Also the cheats make it alot more fun when you do say, Low gravity, Drunk people and Driving in a UFO! But I haven't mastered that yet. Well this is where I end, with the review anyway, there are some cheats below.

Game of The Month: January and February 2009

For these picks, they were kinda easy.

JANUARY 2009:
Skate 2:
The gameplay is solid, and I enjoyed it more than any other game from that month, although, it could have been better, I think.

FEBRUARY 2009:
Street Fighter IV
The artwork itself was awesome, and the gameplay was amazing, as well as the graphics, what I loved most was that they kept the feel of the original games, although I would have liked to see "parry" in the game.

That is is the end of this GOTM edition.
In March, their will be one game for sure that will be a top contender for GOTM.

Although this is a little late, whatever, here is the GOTY awards! Since this is late, I will not put the effort into this, to make it the highest quality. I will just have the GOTY award for this edition.

Another Reason To Love FPS + GOTY 2009 Info

Killzone 2 is another reason why you should love First-Person Shooters, the graphics, gameplay and story is to die for, but mainly the graphics, its just TOO good, plain and simple.

I plan on getting this soon, so I can jam with my friends, but from the demo, it simply plays like a true Game of the Year game, it has the potential to be one too, for 2009, their is quite a few more games to be released during the year, and those will be a sure contender for GOTW, but from what I've played since 2009, it looks like Killzone 2 has taken an early lead in the GOTW department.

I suggest you pick this up, don't worry, you won't worry, you won't regret it.

Oh yeah, one thing left to say before I end this entry:

The Game Of The Year Award 2009 will take place: Dec 2009 - Jan 2010

It will not cover all the genres, but the genres, I have played, like... Action Adventure, Sport Game and a few others.

Until than, I will wait for the games, I am anticipating for 2009, like inFamous, Prototype, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Alpha Protocol and a heck load of more games.

Speedy Sunday Review: Spider-Man 2

The sequel to the original Spider-Man, this game is based off of the real, Spider-Man 2 movie.

Presentation: 8.5
For a comic book, movie based, PS2 game, this is pretty good.

Graphics: 7.5
Not the best looking PS2 game though.

Sound: 6.0
It was annoying, thats all I'm going to say.

Gameplay: 9.0
I enjoyed swinging and fighting.

Last Appeal: 8.0
Once finished the game, their is quite a few stuff to do, although, it would have been nice to see an online mode.

OVERALL:
8.5 / 10

Well, apparently, their could be, from this story, and I am personally excited, the first GOW (God of War: Chains of Olympus) for the PSP was amazing, I still play it till this day, maybe not regularly, but once and awhile, because its that good, and if their is another GOW PSP game, I'll be happy to collect it with my money.
